Andrea Tomasevic was born on 21.06.1973., in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. She has been active in the local DIY hardcore/punk scene for over 15 years. These years have witnessed her constant passion, enthusiasm, and energy in personal expression and participation in the local scene.
She first exhibited her attitude, determination, affinities, and political views in public with the "Shaved Women" fanzine, published in 1991. This was the beginning of Andrea's long engagement in the local fanzine scene , in wich she not only made her own, but collaborated with many other fanzines and similar publications. Many fanzines were created from this collaboration in the 90's, fertile years for Yugoslavia's fanzine culture. The first Serbian/ Macedonian collaborative fanzine after the disintegration of Yugoslavia, entitled "Factory Smog Is A sign Of Progress", was one of the most important to the author.

She collaborated with local independent radio stations in the early 90's, and eventually ran her own show called "Thrasher", together with Gvido Obradovic, on (in that time) famous independent radio station B92. The show was the only hardcore/punk public program in Belgrade at the time.
Andrea also played bass guitar for the hardcore/punk band Brainstorm which released several EP's and split LP with Battle of Disarm from Japan.
The most productive period of the author's life began with the new millenium as Andrea, friend Maja, and soul mate Nesha (aka Doomsday Graphics) founded the Subwar Collective. The three formed the collective as a logical product of their lives' itersection: a wish to join forces, an expression of their affinities and attitudes toward the world, their shared experience, and the drive to bring their ideas into reality trough engagement and direct action. They wished to create initiative that would refresh the local scene's spirit, and motivate themselves, their friends, and everyone around them to get moving, to express themselves, to remain inspired whatever the circumstances - to react! During just a few years, Subwar Collective has made a significant contribution to the local scene, by organizing concerts for both local and touring bands, exhibitions, street actions such as Food Not Bombs, video projections, and workshops on screen printing, and by running music and fanzine distribution.
During the same period, Andrea began working with photography and collage. She creates collages using newspaper cut - outs, photograph clippings, and original drawings. By juxtaposing these various techniques, the collages become a rough reflection in the distorted mirror of reality. With time, her expression becane more sophisticated, not only in the service of shock, but an intelligent, critical, and interesting narrative of life in today's society. She uses the iconography of contemporary consumer society - constant reference to advertising, and an intervention of details from the real world into the imaginary world of happiness, prosperity, and "beauty" of billboard culture. All the art on this page was created by graphic manipulation on computer. It has so far been shown in several exhibitions.
